President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) has the capacity of being forerunner of world disarmament.

Ahlul Bayt News Agency (ABNA.ir), In a meeting with OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu here on the sidelines of Tehran International Conference on Disarmament, President Ahmadinejad said countries which are standard-bearers for Disarmament ‘should not possess nuclear weapons.” Appreciating OIC chief efforts on Palestine and the Muslim world, Ahmadinejad said, ”The world is on the threshold of tremendous developments and we should be active in the management of these developments, otherwise certain powers will create a new order and impose it on the world.” “OIC can have an active and constructive role in the management of world developments,” the president told his visitor. President Ahmadinejad appreciated stances taken by OIC chief on defending the rights of oppressed people of Palestine and said, “The reason behind the establishment of OIC was support for Palestinians, so it is necessary that OIC work hard in this way so that the Zionist regime’s crimes can be prevented.” OIC chief, for his part, called Ahmadinejad’s speech in Tehran International Conference on Disarmament ‘very positive and constructive’ and said the speech revealed the double standards of certain powers very well. Ihsanoglu said OIC supports Iran’s rights on peaceful use of nuclear energy and has always said that it is against use of nuclear energy for making war equipments. He emphasized the creation of a Middle East free of nuclear arms and said OIC follows the issue very seriously in international organizations. On Afghanistan, OIC chief said any military solution in Afghanistan would be a failure because Afghanistan needs a regional and indigenous solution and Iran can have a very prominent role in this regard. Commenting on the latest developments in Palestine, Ihsanoglu said the Holy Qods is the red line for the world Muslims and if the occupiers try to trespass on this line, the consequences for them would be unpredictable.
